Digital Art 1

Grade 9-12 : 1 Semester

Use the computer to create works of art! Digital Art introduces students to the basics of computer generated graphic design and fine art. Students will work with cutting edge graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe ImageReady, and Corel Painter 8. Projects include digital montage, vector drawing, digital watercolor, simple cartoon animation, and more. A fee of $10.00 is required for this course.

Digital Art 2

Grade 9-12 : 1 Semester
Prerequisites: Digital Art 1
Standards Addressed: Visual Arts 1, 2, 3, 4/Technology 1, 2, 5, 6

This course builds on the techniques learned in Digital Art 1. Students will work with the same software as in the first semester, but they will also learn MacroMedia Flash MX and Bryce 3-D. Projects include tee-shirt design, 3-D landscape design, Flash animation projects, and more. In addition, there will be more time available for independent projects during this semester. A fee of $10.00 is required for this course.

Grades 9-12 : 1 Semester
Prerequisite: Keyboarding
Standards Addressed: Language Arts 2.1, 2.2, 5.1, 5.3
Technology 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Tell the world what you think! Students will learn the skills necessary to build and upload their own websites to the Internet. This course will emphasize the html coding and graphic design/layout skills required to construct a functional and entertaining website. Students will also learn to use MacroMedia's Dreamweaver MX software.

Course Policy

Subject restrictions include drug, pornography, and gang related materials. All work must be kept in the classroom folder on the district's network. Students work may be displayed on the department's website. If any student doesn't want his/her work included, he or she must inform the instructor of this in writing.

Students must STAY ON TASK. Work on assigned pieces during class and avoid working on assignments for other classes, please. Also, no off-task Internet surfing or computer games. There will be a 15% grade deduction on the current assignment for any infractions of this policy.

Late work will incur a 15% grade deduction unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.
